Intelligent Design vs Evolution
There are really only 3 schools of thought when it comes to how the earth began.
1. Creationism - The belief that God created the Earth in 7 days as it says in the Bible.
2. Evolution - The belief we were monkeys.
3. Intelligent Design - The belief that an Intelligent Being created all the creatures on Earth.
Some people have been in the news as saying intelligent design is just creationism with a new name. Not so. Creationists believe in the living God and it is He that created the earth. Intelligent Design suggests only that something intelligent created life on earth.
The problem is this. Scientists have accused the christian right for years of being "narrowminded" because they will not accept the THEORY of evolution and will only believe God created the heavens and the earth.
Now people want Intelligent Design taught as an alternative theory to evolution in the schools. The scientists are all screaming NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Only evolution should be taught. Only what we believe is true should be taught to our children!
Now who's being narrow minded?
Evolution has become the religion of scientists. Even though there are terrible gaps in the theory, no fossils found at all for certain periods of time where they claim we were "evolving", and other things that disprove the theory of evolution, scientists cling to it as much as any creationist clings to God.
You cannot believe in God AND Evolution. You cannot add to or take away from the Bible. It says so. You either believe or you do not. Personally I feel sorry for the scientists who have chosen to believe they know more and that we are simply monkeys in disguise or a "super monkey" you may as well say.
They only want their theory taught because they fear they will be proved wrong or worse yet, people will begin to understand that despite what we have been taught, evolution is a THEORY, therefore should not be taught as fact and should not be the only theory taught to our children.
Our children deserve to here all theories and make up their own mind. We can't even teach our children the basics of reading and math properly anymore and we want to deny them the ability to hear all theories?
It's time to open up our minds and those of our children and trust them to make up their own minds about their beliefs.
Seperation of church and state is NOT even written in the constitution yet the average american has been lead to believe it is in the constitution. It only says Government shall not create or endorse a particular religion. Even a religion called evolution.
Teaching all the theories of how the earth was created is neither creating or endorsing a particular religion so the theory of seperation of church and state has no bearing on this issue.
Our children need to learn to be open-minded and tolerant of other's beliefs. The only way to achieve this is to teach all the theories and let them decide for themselves which they believe. If evolutionists think their case is so strong what are they worried about?

Well written! Though I'm not sure which school of thought I subscribe too, you are right, our children deserve to have ALL of the possibilities presented to them.
